EventLens — Windows Event Log (.evtx) viewer for macOS.
We usually respond within a couple of days.
How do I open a file?
Drag any .evtx file onto the EventLens window (or its Dock icon), or use
File → Open (⌘O). You can export .evtx files on a Windows machine from
Event Viewer → Save All Events As…, or copy them from
C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs\.
What’s the difference between Lite and Pro? The free download (Lite) opens any file and shows the most recent 1,000 events, with search, sorting, and full event detail. Pro — a one-time in-app purchase — removes the event limit and adds advanced filters, saved presets, Event Knowledge explanations, bookmarks & tags, multi-file merged timeline, and CSV/JSON export.
I bought Pro on another Mac. How do I activate it here? Purchases are tied to your Apple ID. In EventLens choose Restore Purchase — Pro unlocks immediately at no charge.
Why doesn’t EventLens show the same descriptive text as Windows Event Viewer?
Windows renders event descriptions from message templates stored in system
DLLs, which don’t exist in the .evtx file itself. EventLens shows every
recorded field with its name and value, and Pro’s Event Knowledge adds
plain-English explanations for common Event IDs.
Does EventLens send my logs anywhere? No. Everything is processed locally on your Mac. See the privacy policy.
Which macOS versions are supported? macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later.
